Singapore Toys, Games & Comic Convention (STGCC)
While reading tweets yesterday, tweets on Singapore Toys, Games & Comic Convention (STGCC) caught my attention.

Special thanks to Kazearashi and Panther for the tweet updates. (:
Hence, I sacrificed part of my lunch in exchange for leaving work earlier since the convention is located conveniently a tower away from my work place. Heading straight towards Halls 401 & 402 of Suntec Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre, I was feeling a little excited as I seldom attend events like this and I wanted to visit the Artist Alley.

Located just outside the exit of the convention halls.
I’m fortunate that it’s a Friday and folks still have to work and school. STGCC wasn’t as pack as what I have expected and I have the space to maneuver around. The more crowded spots are the areas where visitors get to test-play Wii or games like Guitar Heroes and I didn’t hang around those areas for long due to the crowd and partly because those games didn’t catch my interest.
I’m not a toy collector too as toys and figurines don’t interest me. Hence, what I did was to glance around and try to make best of my experience there. I actually found some cute looking toys and snap shot photos to share.

Domo figures are small but costly.

There’s also a booth for the sale of Ugly Dolls.

Special thanks to Mr Imamura for making this shot possible. (:

Gundam? Transformer? Robot? I don’t know what this is but took it anyway. :p

There’s an area where Gashapons after Gashapons are lined one after the other and it attracted quite a crowd. I wandered around and felt that the Pokemon and Doraemon Gashapons are the more attractive ones for me though there are not many people there. Too bad I didn’t get any Gashapon.
It actually took me a while to locate the Artist Alley and it was a very lonely alley. The vast majority of visitors are there for games and toys more than comics so the alley is rather deserted. The comic section is rather small and everything was over quicker than what I have expected. The more crowded areas are where the artists from Gempak Starz and Imaginary Friends are.

Autograph sessions with the manga artists.

Don’t those manga look familiar? They’re found on the shelves of Kinokuniya too.

Live demonstration by the team at Imaginary Friends.
Before leaving, I drop by the booth of the 501st Legion, hoping to spot Gordon but neh, no luck. Nevertheless I snap shot and admired some of the trooper helmets that were on display before leaving. I actually checked my watch and was shocked to find out that I was done with the convention in an hour. Overall STGCC is an eye opener but it was boring for me because most of the thing on display could not catch my attention. Perhaps I might have better luck the next time!

The art is so cool! I could probably sit through the Live Demonstration by Imaginary Friends until the convention was over. How people use programs to render graphic art always fascinates me. $16 for a small plastic Domo? No thanks!
cool! brings out the child in us!
Will be popping by soon, and I think I should be done within an hour too. XD It seems to chapalang to be a really cohesive event for me…
Hmm looks like Gundum to me.. perhaps a reminder for that huge Gundum model in Odaiba, Tokyo?
That Live Demonstration must have been rather interesting right?
I always find it amazing how fast and easylooking those guys shell out freat drawings
don’t worry, i’ll look for u next time. ^^;
