Suzy, Happy Marriage!

My very first time where I attended a Malay wedding and I was panicky and worried that I would embarrass myself there. What are the customs and practices that I should take note of? What must I give? How should I dress? I was so panicky to the extent that I asked my friends for advise. However, almost all of my pals have not attended one and hence are unsure how a Malay wedding goes so I’m proudly one of the fortunate ones to have attended one.

Suzy's wedding invitation

Suzy’s wedding was unique (from what I heard from my Malay friends who were present). There were no drums, there was a MC, the place was beautifully decorated, the food was buffet style, drinks were free flow with waiters tending to us and the wedding celebration was held at night.

Held in a multi-purpose hall that’s in between 2 blocks, it was elegantly furnished with chandeliers, carpets, curtains and flowers. What was comforting is that I got to catch up with some of my secondary school friends whom I have not met for long. After the grand entrance of the bride and groom, the buffet commenced and beautiful love songs were played while everyone helped themselves to the delicious food.

I was surprised to receive a Facebook message from Suzy and even surprised to learn that she was getting married from her Facebook message. I’m so glad that she still remember me from our secondary school Girl Guides days and was honored that she invited me to her wedding. Overall I had a fun filled experience and I enjoyed the food, the ceremony and the company of my friends. Thank you Suzy and again, happy marriage! :-)

Nice! Another friend of mine attended a wedding recently. I’ve never been to any sort of wedding myself, but I guess it won’t be long before all my high school friends run off and get married, so we’ll see. :o

Very interesting – I’ve never experienced a wedding aside from the typical US ones. I love the dessert table too…it must be nice to be able to choose. :)

This is neat, it looks quite different from the Malay weddings I see going on in void decks. The 2-seater sofa (?) and the surrounding decor look really grand!

    Ooh, and I spy brownies!
