Happy Farm and Barn Buddy

Posted on

Happy Farm is a Facebook game application where users plant seeds of different crops and harvest them for sale after ripe. Experience points are gained through the harvesting and selling of crops and more crops are unlocked at higher levels. For example, a level 1 player can only plant radish while a higher level player can plant tomatoes. The higher the level, the better the crops, and more money is made from them.

Barn Buddy

Barn Buddy came later but caught my attention because some of my friends have been actively publishing updates on my Facebook News Feed. I was hoping that Barn Buddy is something like Nintendo’s Harvest Moon but was utterly disappointed because Barn Buddy IS actually the modified and evolved version of Happy Farm.

Actually what’s the difference? Barn Buddy came later so I’m assuming that Happy Farm is the beta version where I’m one of the many guinea pigs. This reminds me of another Facebook application Mafia Wars, which is a modified and improved version of Mob Wars. What happened to Mob Wars? That I have no idea and my 6th sense tells me that Happy Farm might end up like Mob Wars and will become part of Facebook application history.

So Barn Buddy has nicer interface, tastier looking veggies and has improved game play over Happy Farm. But I can only conclude that Happy Farm would soon disappear into thin air just like Mob Wars and Barn Buddy will be the next big thing. Sadly, that means that I have to regrow those carrots and start from level 1 in Barn Buddy. A better way to waste time would be to run both games concurrently and declare myself to be a full time Facebook veggie farmer.

Being pessimistic, I have already uninstalled Happy Farm and am concentrating on Barn Buddy. Oh wait, I decided to drop the whole farmer thing and to look for a part-time job instead. Goodbye farming, Hello World! :-)

  1. The new design of “Happy Farm” is not good at all. The picture quality is bad and ugly….Most of my friends got the same comment…

the original one is much more better….

  2. Are you even able to sabotage your friends anymore? By getting friends to put oodles of weeds and bugs in your farm it was 18 exp per patch if it was 3 bugs 3 weeds, which let you level up a lottttt faster. This seems unavailable… FUUUUUUUUU

  3. It’s still possible to sabotage your friends by placing weeds and bugs but I’m unsure whether I’ll gain exp from placing those nasty stuff though. >.<

  4. hi:) well that’s a nice post! I have to say, that I found out Barn Buddy today.. and I add it just because i want to deal more with crops;) haha.. I mean everything happens very slowly, o if i have to games.. i’ll do more work:) hahah
