Terminator Salvation
Last Saturday, I caught Terminator Salvation with my Conqueronline ExtremeMe guild mates. Special thanks to Guardian for organizing, Kitty-san and Auntie Cat for the treat, and Moop for the ride. Plaza Singapura was extremely crowded yesterday evening as a number of events were held there. While waiting for my guild mates to arrive, I took a look at some of the events that were held.

The “Live it up without lighting up” outdoor event was organized to discourage smoking. Besides performing entertaining hip hop moves, teams have to complement anti-smoking messages into their moves. It was crowded and the volume was so soft to the extent that feed back of judges were hard to hear.

Another popular event (welcomed by children) was the indoor “X-ploring Dino Trails”. Models of robotic plastic dinosaurs with board descriptions of them were on display and there was even a sand pile for children to dig for dinosaur fossils.

A Dodo model on display!
Again I entered the cinema without knowing what the movie was on. I haven’t caught the previous installments and though I saw robot models of the Terminator around, I do not know what they represent as they were just weird looking robots to me. I was quickly introduced to the Terminator world and it was made easy for a noob like me to understand – humans vs robots; either kill robots or be killed by robots. However, I’m still confused over certain plot details and my friend explained that I need to catch the first few to understand better. Maybe, if I have the time I just might.

I enjoyed the special effects and the many battle scenes. They’re like those movie war scenes where bombs were dropped with huge explosions and lots of bullets flying everywhere. Not forgetting those awesome looking huge machines that are packed with explosives, some of the machines are designed with style. I specially find those self powered motorcycles rather cool looking. Terminator Salvation is not pure action. There are actually touching moments that got me emo a little. *sob* *sob* *Marcus!!!*
Though entertaining, I was a little lost for I could not comprehend the actions of some characters. Terminators are trying to kill a particular guy while the humans are trying to protect another guy. The problem is that the movie keeps mentioning that they are important but I don’t know why. Are they really that important? Why would everyone believe that they’re important? I guess I need to catch the first few installment in order to fill in the missing pieces.

Indeed, John Connor and Kyle reese are definitely important to the terminator universe heh…I FULLY RECOMMEND YOU WATCH THE FIRST 3 movies!~
Then it’ll all click in your head
:3
You just need to actually listen properly. It was mentioned quite a few times in the film. Particularly the voice recordings of Sarah Conner (John Conner’s mother). If I mention anything more, it would be a spoiler to those who haven’t seen it yet.
And you need to watch the first 3 Terminator movies. How could you have gone to watch Salvation without watching the first 3 movies? You would be totally lost like you are now.
Well, Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines wasn’t all that good, but 1 and 2 were awesome.

Meh. The old Terminator movies are still better.
The one where Glau is in it.
I haven’t been to see the third one yet but yeah, I’m surprised you went to go and see it without knowing any of the background and I can imagine why you’d be lost…although having seen them I don’t think they’re as important as everyone else says for understanding the general plot. The other three films were mostly about the inevitability of things; even if you have time travel and go back and try to change stuff it will just happen in a different way so there’s no point. At least that’s what it felt like to me. Also, the liquid metal in Terminator 2 was really cool. I’d see them because they’re iconic rather than because they’re important to understand what was going on…

Ok that’s settled, I’ll be renting the first few movies from my local video shops.
I think it’s important for me to grasp the time travel part because characters are over-protective over John Connor & that kid whom I feel that the world can do without. If the leader dies, it would affect their battle tactics and such but they might be able to find another good leader. I don’t get the part where it’ll be the end of the world if John Connor or that kid dies.
I definitely need to rent the first few movies to check them out.
