Dream of Mirror Online (DOMO)

Recently I’m playing Dream of Mirror Online (DOMO for short) daily. It’s a free to play MMORPG where I train and level a character.

One character but with many different jobs

After choosing a race out of the four, I can train my character to take on different jobs. What’s best is that I can keep changing jobs so that I will not get bored with one. This saves the hassle of creating multiple accounts and then multiple characters and then forgetting all the user ids and passwords at the end of the day. With a wide range of jobs to choose from, I get to mix and match the skills from different jobs to produce a stronger character.

Too many quests

DOMO has a magnitude of quests for different levels and it’s impossible to complete all of them. Perhaps there are players who are able to complete every quest but I usually have a backlog of quests waiting for my attention in the quest journal.

Pleasant gaming environment

There are games where players come from different planets as they speak and think differently. Common sense says that it’s inappropriate to kill other player’s mobs but there are some players who will kill steal unintentionally because they don’t think that kill steal is wrong. For DOMO, seldom do you get such players; on the contrary, most are helpful if you ask nicely. Some are even real polite to chat with.

No Pk environment

Since its a no pk environment, characters won’t get pked even when you’re not watching. For duel matches, players need to specifically accept the challenges before a pk match can begin. What’s frustrating because of this system is when thief in-game loots your stuff and you cannot get back at them when they refuse to accept your duel. Where’s the justice? Fortunately 99.9% of the players in-game do not loot stuff from others; I just happened to be unfortunate enough to meet the 0.01% of the bad eggs.

Design

Not only characters but some of the mobs look cute too. Characters can also rear cute looking pets to aid them in battles.

No down time

I’ve been playing for 3 days and haven’t experience a down time or server maintenance so far.

Why DOMO sucks

  1. Durability of equipments are reduced on every repair.
  2. No money. Monsters do not drop money and you must get money by selling the items monsters drop.
  3. Controls. The controls need some time getting used to. As the game is 3D with rotating cameras, players have to master the art of camera rotation. If you’re familiar with Diablo or Might and Magic, camera rotation would be a piece of cake.
  4. Have to level the various jobs. All jobs start from level 10 and I need to train them individually so that their skills can be used. Don’t worry, the exp is accumulative for each job so when you change back, you’ll be at the exact level that you last left it to be.

Downloading and patching the game will take roughly an hour or so depending on the internet connection. I’m gaming at Sapphire server. Is anyone interested in playing? We can be noobs together. :-)

Repairing in-game equipments require in-game money with no real money involve. I haven’t tried restoring the max durability of the equipments yet, maybe those are where real cash is spent but I’m cheapskate enough to avoid that! (:

Living in Europe I can only play the Gametribe version of the game (much less developed than Aeriagames’ version) and this being quite a while ago, I never had the best DOMO experience available; but I really liked the game, I remember! Although, I agree with you on “Why DOMO sucks” point 4; but I guess it could extend the game for die-hard players with a few days. lol

Actually it’s not a money rip off game unless u are damn hardcore. If ur weapons break u can always make new ones with alchemy if u have the right matz. However, if u slot ur weapons then most likely u would want to repair ur armour to max dura. Fortunately, most ppl dun do that until they are really really high lvl so there really isn’t much money issue. Most of the cash items are more of convenience/vanity stuff that most gamers can learn to live without. ^^

    That said, i can’t say the same for IAH’s Granado Espada… ><

My friends have gotten me into Pangya it involves playing golf-which I don’t really care for except for the social aspect of the game. I’d much rather play a game like Domo. I wonder if I could persuade them to change games ^^.

Have you tried Megaten? It looks interesting. The characters are more my style. I’m not a huge loli fan.

I’m not a fan of sport games too, don’t really enjoy fishing, golf or a basketball or football match when playing computer games. They’re more fun when I’m exercising live!

Megaten? Haven’t tried it before as the other MMORPG that I’ve played is Conqueronline (CO). I’m thinking of playing Flyff since I have a friend there though. Try psycho-ing your friends to change games and if they decide on DOMO, I can be found in Sapphire server. (:
