Manga no Tsukurikata Volume 1
Manga no Tsukurikata 「まんがの作り方」 is a yuri manga that revolves around 2 mangaka and their lives as mangaka cum yuri lovers. It all started when she published her first manga when she was 13 but she left the manga scene after she gained some popularity. Now 19, Kawaguchi Asuka decides to work from home as a full time mangaka. While brain storming for ideas, she wants to come up with something that will sell and thus settles for a girl love plot for her 2nd debut.

As Morishita (who is her underclassman), is totally and openly in love with her, she decides to date Morishita to gain ideas and experiences for her yuri manga. However, little did she know that Morishita is actually a popular mangaka who’s publishing manga under the pen name, Sachi. Though schooling, Morishita works part-time at a bookstore, has to meet manga deadlines for her manga and to top that up, has to make time for Asuka.

Do I hear screams and shouts of unjust? If you feel that Asuka is dating Morishita only for manga inspirations, such an impression will change as we have Asuka falling for the cute and sincere Morishita. With 2 professional mangaka-like characters always hanging out together, the plot inevitably explores the various issues and difficulties that would plague a mangaka in real life. Each chapter revolves around an issue that a mangaka might face – lack of inspiration, publications related, draft deadlines, etc – and hence please support original mangas if they are available in your region because mangakas work their lives away and earn only peanuts. (^_^)v

Working on their mangas together
Thought there are only a few characters (another character being Asuka’s younger brother Masato), Hirao Arui did a good job in developing the characters and the art becomes more and more visually appealing as the chapter progresses. What’s best is that the mundane life and issues that a mangaka face is sweetened with that tinge of yuri-ness. Try it, you’ll learn a thing or two about manga making just like what the title of this manga, まんがの作り方, suggests.

What a coincidence, I just read Chapter 1 of this yesterday!
I was just about to ask if you dont get bored by all those Yuri Mangas you read but ive gotta admit that the Mangaka Setting makes this quite interesting.
Blowfish´s last blog post..1/5 Movic Yoko – Boobielicious!
Those that I follow do not focus mainly on yuri, instead, they focus on other mundane or common stuff but has some yuri-ness as the topping. I doubt that I’ll get bored with this genre though I’ve been reading it for years already. Of course, I read other genres too, shoujo and shounen (Claymore ROAR!), anyone?
*high five*
Awww, chapter 1 only? How was it? Planning to complete the volume after your exams?
