Suspect X, Facebook and Some Minor Stuff Like Hokkien and Cantonese Songs

I went for an interview the day before yesterday and boy, those questions were difficult to answer. Hopefully there will be news soon. (:

Currently I’m packed to the brim with research essays but I’ll try to post updates once in a while. Anime, now, is totally absent in my life and the monthly Claymore chapter is the only manga that I’m still loyally following. For more updates as to whether I’m dead or alive, feel free to follow my Plurks found on the right side bar. Below are some updates to things that struck me as interesting for the month of March.

Graphic card replaced.

Due to some graphic card error, I was without a laptop for a week plus. Fortunately the new stock arrived and my lap top is running as good as new. Special thanks to the hot Toshiba engineer at IT Co-Op at LT26 for servicing my laptop and replacing my battery. (:

Personality tests are hot on Facebook.

The trend has shifted from tagging friends on cartoon pictures to doing personality tests. Currently “What does your birthday says about you?” is the hottest running with one or two of my friends taking it daily. The result for popular ones like “What’s your actual age?” can be shocking yet funny as they might not fit the person you have in mind.

What does your birthday says about you?

Pet Society has additional levels, rooms and shops.

Pet Society added 2 new shops (Mystery and Gadget), increased the maximum level to 47 and added 3 to be unlocked rooms for pets who are progressing towards level 47. I thought I could retire when I hit level 32 to seek greener game pastures but the pastures now seem so far off with the changes.

Neat, simple and attractive.

Decorating your pet’s room Japanese styled is the “in” thing to do now in Pet Society. Personally I feel that the Shoji Door, Shoji Window and Tatami Flooring are sold at cut throat prices and that the designs and items limit creativity. Hence I abandoned my plans for a room that is designed the Japanese way. Earlier a friend of mine surprised me with her room creativity so I snap shot her pet’s room to share with all how simplicity can work with creativity as well.

Hokkien and Cantonese songs to de-stress.

Besides listening to those songs, I’ve been practicing on my speech for de-stressing purposes. I’m actually very lucky to be born in an environment where I’m exposed to the various languages and dialects! Though I do not speak them, I understand, so do not think I do not understand what you’re saying.

一百万 is very addictive, followed by the long running 情难忘 that was played in the evening on weekdays. For Cantonese pop, 黑风暴雨 is soothing and I remember hearing the mandarin version in a noodle shop though I still prefer the Cantonese version. Others I favor include 实情 and Only You. Oh and if you’re interested, you might want to check out this Facebook group on local dialects.

Syringes are lengthy.

I had a close encounter with a syringe this week and I never knew that it was actually that lengthy; approximately 8 cm excluding the needle. The most intimidating would be the needle though.

Anaesthetics

Suspect X reminds me of Kindaichi Case Files.

Did anyone catch Suspect X? I again entered the theater not knowing what is in stall for me and was shocked when the characters spoke Japanese. But thanks buddy, I really enjoyed the movie. It was entertaining and worth the catch. When the series ended, I can’t help but be reminded of Kindaichi Case Files. Both series have a protagonist who uses logic and rationality to solve cases but the main difference would be where Kindaichi relies more on his intuitive and detective skills while Galileo relies on physics to explain things.

Suspect X

In Suspect X, I pitied the criminals. Actually I pitied all the characters, even Galileo. To be guided with logic and rationality is a practical move but Galileo is too pragmatic to the extent that he needs an emotional check and that was what he got. Fortunately, he salvaged some of his humanity or he would have entered my list of protagonists whom I dislike.

I might give Departure a try if I survive pass this month and if the film is still running in April. Have you caught Suspect X and Departure yet? (:
