Baking Pineapple Tarts

It’s 1.40am over here. If you can smell the aroma of pineapple tarts now, you’re probably my neighbor.

Pineapple tarts

Since it’s the weekends, my aunt decided to bake pineapple tarts for the Chinese New Year and she started preparing only around 10 plus earlier. Being the goody niece, I’ve decided to show my moral support by staying up late and sampling the pineapple tarts when they’re done.

2 trays of pineapple tarts

And yes, I’m the first to taste the 1st generation of pineapple tarts that are fresh out of the oven. They’re delicious but I only ate 2 pieces since most are reserved for the Chinese New Year.

The oven can only handle 2 trays at once.

My aunt has baked 4 trays so far but since the oven is small and can only handle 2, we need to go another round or two before all is done. Buddies, if you’re visiting my house during the Chinese New Year, I’ll serve you some of my aunt’s home made pineapple tarts ya. (:

    Oh no, the pineapple curse is upon us… (I’m cursed too, just had a pineapple bun. Isn’t it weird how the Japanese calls it a lemon bun and the Chinese calls it a pineapple bun even though there aren’t any pineapples or melons in it?)

    The only thing I look forward to during the new year, alongside Mandarin oranges. I would normally eat these by the bucketload and then get a mouth ulcer later.

    @Kiri
    Pineapple tarts are on sales in many stores now. And while you’re shopping for them, don’t forget those love letters and peanuts. (::

    @gordon

    It’s the year of the bull and the month of the pineapple. :w00t:

    @Caitlin
    Pineapple jam is used in some cases but my aunt’s ones are filled with pineapple filling and baked to a crunchy golden brown state. (::

    @Kazearashi
    Mail them over? That’s not possible! They might not even be able to pass the customs! Don’t lazy, go get a bottle from the nearby shops. Better, bake some, it’ll be fun!

    @Shin
    Prepare Bonjela just in case.
