Your & My Secret – Body Switching Has Never Been So “Right”

I remember reading Pretty Face where the male protagonist had a face plastic surgery after an accident. Being all macho, he had to act girly as he took on a female identity. I first thought it interesting but dropped it after a few volumes due to the excessive fan service and the male protagonist was really pushing it by pretending to be a girl.

Your & My Secret Volume 1

In “Your & My Secret”, there’s no plastic surgery involved. The characters undergo body swooping due to an accidental experiment but the switch was so “right” that no one, except for 1 of the protagonists, is complaining.

Nanako Momoi is so GAR that she might be able to break the hands and legs of guys in a royal rumble match. Her appetite is huge; she behaves like a tyrant and is rowdy with words. If only she’s gentler, she’d make a good girlfriend. Akira Uehara, on the other hand, is so quiet and well behaved that even his sister bullies him. If only he’s manlier, he’d make a macho boyfriend.

It happened. An accident occurred and there was a swoop. Now Nanako is stuck in Akira’s body and Akira is stuck in Nanako’s body. So we have Nanako behaving like a proper girl and Akira behaving like a macho guy overnight. Everyone’s happy except for the gentle Akira who tries his best to respect his new body to the best-est of his abilities.

Body switching is a common theme in many series but not one has been this “right” like this series. Everyone in the series, including their family, is happy that their kid is finally acting like how they should be. What intrigues me most in volume 1 is how Akira copes with his new feminine body and friends. Matters become more complicated towards the end of the chapter as admirers start appearing.

I’ll be catching the next few volumes and watching the plot development closely. Are there possibilities of switching back? I hope so because poor Akira is clearly suffering in agony. Published by Tokyopop, I suggest getting the Mandarin version by Chuang Yi instead. It’s cheaper and the quality is better, you can trust me on this.

    “and the male protagonist was really pushing it by pretending to be a girl.”

    I think noone can beat Ranma in pushing it way too far ^_^

    Sounds like this show tries to focus on the psychological aspect of the body transfer and doesnt go the usual switched body= ecchi scenes + comedic encounters route.Kudos for that!
    This could make up a pretty interesting story if they stay on this realistic (as much as body transfers cam be considered realistic) route.It offers alot material for confrontation between themselves,family members and the rest of their world.

    Awkward sounding title aside, I’m all for the premise, but would probably only bother if there was an anime adaptation, since I’m too lazy to actually read. :tongue:

    @Blowfish
    Other than the psychological and emotional aspects, that’s also the physical and environmental aspect. Akira has to get use to a female body as he undergoes PMS & the monthly menstruation cycle. He’s also more “exposed” to the females as he has to hang out with them majority of the time since he’s in a female body. It’s very amusing to see how things play out. (:

    Stay away from the Live Action! I heard -ve remarks for it.
