Finally the 4th season of Maria-sama ga Miteru has arrived!

We have the usual opening and fans would recognize the familiar words that are played at the start of every episode. Actually, I’ve been waiting and keeping my ears open for news of Season 4 since last year. Will we get some answers this season? Will we get to see characters graduating? Let’s observe in anticipation.

There’s not much plot development as it’s still early. The characters are introduced again and graduated characters are mentioned for recap. I applaud the producers for managing character introduction and recap while slotting in some conflicting moments to highlight the shaky relations between Yumi-Touko-Kanako. All is done in a single episode and the stage is set for the future drama to come.

The deepest impression that I’ve for episode 1 is definitely the OP and the ED.

The OP paints a fantasy-styled friendship of Yumi, Yoshino, and Shimako, where they are playing catch in school. This is an impossible feat for the trio to perform while in the Academy as they have to abide to school rules. The melody is cheerful but I was especially shocked when Yumi used her magic pencil to create a magic portal where the trio “disappeared” in the green house. I thought I might see owls or the girls shooting spells at each with their magic pencils but luckily that did not happen.

Hot.The ED is hot.

Characters pose in the sexiest way possible and yuri-ness fills the air. The various pairings have their own screen time as the camera features them slowly, scroll-styled, either horizontally or vertically. Accompanied with catchy melody and falling snowflakes, it’s hard to forget the ED images.

Will things play out like the above?

I’ll be following the series and hopefully, I’ll get to see graduate Sei in action because she’s still my favorite character.  Anyone following this series with me? (::
