Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou Episode 2-4
Continuing my reviews on Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou. It reminds me of Final Fantasy; character wise and their fighting style.

Episode 2 is a flash back to the past; starting from how the group first met Tatsuma Hiyuu, the transfer student, and how they come to become a group. Kyouichi didn’t like Hiyuu then and attacked him right in front of everyone in class, and right infront of the teacher. Goodness. O_o A fight ensues and it ends with a draw. That’s not the end of it though. Daigo, leader of the wrestling club, decides to challenge Hiyuu at night in a run-down building and Kyouichi is judge for the night.
Episode 2

As we know, run down buildings have a high chance of harboring demons and that’s when a demon attacks everyone. Both Sakurai and Aoi enters the scene because Aoi, being the president of the student council, feels that it’s her responsibility to stop all fights among students. Sakurai, being Aoi’s best friend, tags along as she’s worried about Aoi going out alone at night. The demon attacks everyone and sends them into a limbo where they each have to conquer before regaining their senses.

In face of danger, the only means of survivor is to fight. Not only the guys, the ladies also retaliate as none wants to face death. Everything ends well with the demon eliminated but they learn that they have the powers to defeat demons. New characters, both good and evil, enter the scene for episode 3 and 4. There are incidents of crows attacking innocent bystanders in groups, massacring humans. Crows are nuisances but being poked to death by crows remind me of the scene in Resident Evil: Extinct. I should respect crowds more before they start attacking me on the street. Hmm…coming back to the summary.

Episode 3 & 4
The antagonist this time is Ryouichi, an ex-pop star guitarist who’s engulfed by his demonic side. His band partner, Raito, is looking for him. Mistaking the high schoolers as the evil doers, Raito beats them up badly with his lightning powers. Aoi struggles to find her place in the team as she feels that she’s the odd one out, always being unable to do anything. However, episode 3 actually proves that her very strength, is the strength to protect. She steps up and shields her comrades from Raito’s lightning attacks.

Aoi’s strength is to protect
Aoi reminds me of Aeris from Final Fantasy VII, hopefully, she doesn’t end up like her. The misunderstanding between Raito and the gang is settled and all of them head off in search of Ryouichi. The guys confront Ryuouichi head on while both ladies attack from a roof top of a distant building.

Near combat for guys, attack from afar for the ladies
I actually find this a very tactical move, Sakurai is more effective from a distance she wields a bow, while Aoi can safely use her powers as support from afar. Very much reminds me of Final Fantasy VII battle formation, front row and back row battle. -_-”

Attacking from afar, they rain Ryuichi with arrows & even found the time to chat
At the end of episode 4, seems like the antagonists are more powerful and evil than they seems. I like the pacing and action so far and hope to see more skill development. Daigo, that wrestling guy, really need more screen time action.

Trust me when I say that this show is extremely confusing, yet extremely entertaining. The fighting scenes especially are all ubercool and though rather predictable, the plot managed to keep me watching till the end. =D
Oh and I think Hiyuu is the coolest of them all, melee fighters forever! XD

Hmmm, this doesn’t look too bad. I might give it a try when I run out of things to do.

@Ez
I’m watching it on a weekly basis, a few episodes per week. It’ll keep me occupy till the end of June, a good way to pass my holidays. I haven’t seen much Hiyuu action yet but Sakurai impressed me with her multiple arrow attacks at the start. I’ll sit tight and wait for more Hiyuu action. (:
@Stifler
Sure, give it a try when you’re free. You can also adopt the watch a few episodes a week style that I’m using. XD
<3 Sakurai, always in favor of the archer/ranger class :)
