美女か野獣 Bijo ka Yajuu
Been wondering what I’m busy with recently? I’m now “into” drama, especially Japanese series like the below.

美女か野獣 aka Beauty or Beast is a 11 episode Japanese drama aired by Fuji TV back in 2003. I remember catching it years back but I missed some of the episodes. Hence, I’m re-watching it again. Makoto Tamiya1 is career woman material. After earning her MBA from Harvard, she’s working for the American broadcasting station but was scouted and hired by JBC Television to head the News department. She’s trusted with the task of increasing viewership for the News segment. On the other hand, Hiromi Nagase2 is a sloppy character who was transferred from Varity to the News department due to his behavior.
Simply, the plot revolves around how Makoto “reforms” the sloppy News staff just as much as how they shape and change her approach to things. The News team encounters various dilemmas in life as they struggle in the “space between what’s wrong and right”3 while they try to portray the truth “accurately” to the public. In addition to all the work that Makoto has to handle, there’s also a sloppy Hiromi to distract her in their unfinished love relation.
Generally the plot is repetitive where a problem or an issue will first appear and then, Makoto and the News department will work to resolve the issue. By a stroke of luck, or with quick wits, the problem will be solved by the end of the episode. Characters are neither charming nor sizzling with sexiness but they’re the most interesting combination that a News department can ever get. Be amazed at their attitudes and their silly actions in every episode.
I would recommend Beauty or Beast (which is a light comedy cum romance series) to all. Though it has a simple and predictable plot, the series has managed to keep my interest with the many hilarious moments and interesting character interaction. I’ll give the cast a thumbs up for making the series as lively as possible, be it with exaggeration or making it a little emo for certain scenes.

uhh Pink! You settled yourself for a girly theme?^^
Is this a more of an epsiodic thing with no progress or a profressing story?
It reminds me of an old American Sitcom whose name i cant remember

lindyyy! bijyo ka yajuu is currently having a rerun on fuji tv in tokyo now. LOL.
@Blowfish
Stunned by the pinkish words? It’s an epic move on my part don’t you feel so?
For the series, there’s some progress in terms of character and plot development. The series become more intense towards the end where characters take a stand and decide whether to portray the truth or to protect their loved ones by hiding the truth.

うらやましい。。。
Thank you for a comment again! =]
Hmm…I will keep this drama in mind! i haven’t been able to watch much drama, because I haven’t found much. I thought Beauty fit that kanji word better than “kiss” because in chinese that’s “pretty girl”, basically “beauty”..

You might want to try Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, or HanaKimi for short. Its pretty good too.
Of course, that would depend on which adaptation you are watching. I recommend the Japan adaptation.

For a moment there I thought this would be a post about the manga “Bijou ga Yajuu” by Tomo Matsumoto xD Will certainly keep this drama in mind, added to my ever growing list of “plan to watch jdramas” which I always end up neglecting lol.
