Candy☆Boy Episode 3 – The Insurmountable Obstacle
Alright Candy☆Boy fans, episode 3 is already out, quick catch it!

Brief recap. Previously Kanade spent their money for their return home air tickets on a pair of earrings. Penniless and feeling very guilty, the duo thought that they were unable to make it home but rich kouhai Sakuya, appeared and offered them free tickets on the condition that she gets to visit their home too.
And so begins episode 3 where the trio are on the airplane home. Much to Kanade’s displeasure, she’s stuck sitting next to Sakuya for the plane trip while Yukino enjoys herself by savoring the banana flavored gifts that she’s suppose to take home.

A new Candy☆Boy character, who’s actually both Kanade and Yukino’s youngest sibling, is introduced. Though young, Shi-chan brave the snow to welcome her sisters at the train station. Meeting Sakuya for the 1st time, she’s no push over and she held her own against her, making herself much disliked by Sakuya. Shi-chan is either a siscon or she’s totally jealous of the special bond that both her sisters share. There were many scenes that hinted the loneliness and jealous of Shi-chan and of her avoiding the twins when the gang is at home.

After Sakuya hit the bed, Yukino joins her sisters in the kitchen. Chatting leisurely with Shi-chan, Shi-chan became overwhelmed by her suppressed emotions and she broke out in tears before the episode ends with much unhappiness.
Usually episodes end on a happy note but not this time; Kanade and Yukino were thrown off guard when their little sister breaks down crying at the end of the episode. Perhaps, this is the most boring episode so far because it did not give me what I wanted. To me, Candy☆Boy is a light hearted yuri-ai series but this episode just became a drama between sisters where the youngest sister breaks down due to emotional neglect. Will this evolve to become a threesome complicated triangle incest relationship? I hope not because I decided to follow this title because of it’s uncomlicated plot and light heartedness.

Nice post. I have the opposite opinion of this episode, however: I think it enriches the series. If the show had just stayed as it was, it could have gotten boring. I don’t expect “threesome complicated triangle incest relationship,” but just some real feelings and heartwarming resolution. I like the idea of having a plot arc that isn’t resolved within one episode.

I agree with you Hyn. I looked forward to another light-hearted episode but got slammed by Shi-chan’s jealousy. I don’t see a happy end… or at the least, a clean happy end. There’s too much negative emotions between Shi- and Yuki-chan to be cleared up in one episode.
