Strike Witches Episode 10 to 12 – 2nd Season Anyone?
I marathon-ed Strike Witches episode 10 to 12 in a go. I last remember episode 9 taking a turn where it became serious business and Major Sakamoto got shot by a Neuroi that looked like a Strike Witch. I thought that the series might end in a tragedy where the Witches would die faster than flies in the remaining few episodes but fortunately no one was eliminated.

I actually find the first half of episode 10 boring. It focuses on Yoshika trying her best to save Sakamoto while the others prank and make fun of her “sentence”. The real action only comes when she decided to break confinement and to pay the Neuroi a visit.

Only 10 days confinement? Minna is too lenient!

LOL, some censored fan service before Yoshika’s confinement.

It’s misleading from their conversation…

And they’re in the dark doing who knows what! O_o

Episode 11 is where the bad ass reveal themselves. I knew that some conspiracy was on-going in the headquarters but I never expect the badie to appear with a transformer gundam as his support. I find it suspicious that all the witches are willing to leave the headquarters obediently but I soon learn what’s up their sleeves.

Lol at Erica’s epic fail pose to stop a truck.

Ingenious method of spying at one’s enemy.

The above reminds me of some inter-galactic space shoot out between 2 sides.
I love the final episode. There’s an awesome antagonist (Warlock cum Akagi), there’s ample screen time for all witches, and there’s the team spirit. I really like series where there’s humor, action and team spirit and Strike Witches fulfilled all of them.

Yoshika’s 1 vs 1 battle with Warlock is exciting; just like a cat and mouse chase. I especially like one of her moves where she confronts Warlock head on with her shield up just to protect the others.

The lasers might get deflected and hit Warlock!

I also finally get to see the abilities of some characters like Barkhorn and Perrine and I wasn’t surprised when Barkhorn lifted the metal pillar but I would be if the one doing so was Minna or Erica. I really love the way how season 1 ends but is this really the end to such an awesome series? I don’t really want a season 2 where Neuroi revives out of the blue and Strike Witches becoming a purely fan service series (reminds me of Ikkitousen) with no good plot but it’s just so hard to let such great characters go. Arrrrh I’m already missing Yoshika, Minna, Lucchini and gang! What do you all think of a 2nd season if there is to be one?

Gonzo not neglecting the fan service department even till the end. (:

If i understood everything right they said that the Neuroi in Gallia were deafeated but still active in other parts of the world.Thats why i wondered why the Strike Witches were dismissed after that battle.I expect a second series to hit the tv in early 09 that continues with the task to free the rest of the world.While not beeing a great series i did indeed enjoy this series.In the beginning i refused to watch the series because of that pantsless thing
just a reminder, the neuroi has not been totally annihilated. Only region of Gallia’s has been free there’s still others region such as Orussia, Karlsland and Ostrund
But if what I think is right, the reason why the Neuroi were fighting were because of the captured Neuroi core. With it destroyed, all the Neuroi would have no reason to fight. Thus, war won.
@Blowfish
Same here. I also don’t get why the force is disbanded if there are still Neuroi hives around. Maybe they have already destroyed all the hives and that’s the reason why they have painted such an optimistic and happy ending for season 1?
Strike Witches is mild when it comes to the pantsu department. I have seen worse like Ikkitousen and Rosario+Vampire where characters flash their pantsu as though they’re representatives of pantsu companies.
@zaeris
Ah…I totally forgotten about the other hives.
@NanoPulp
That, I’ll need to consult the other Strike Witches professionals. XD
Actually, there might be Neuroi still present in other parts of the world. CAN I CALL FOR A 501st REUNION PLEASE?
@NanoPulp: I always thought the Neuroi attacked because they were being attacked first. You know, humans, or more correctly, the military just attack whatever they don’t understand, and thinking the Neuroi were ‘invading’, they attacked.That was one thing I at least wanted to be clarified before the end…so here’s hoping there’s a second season with moar pantsu answers.
orz Why doesn’t my mark-up work?
All I have to say is “Tonerre!” and you’ll know what I’m talking about. Or probably not. Either way, I’m glad it’s over, time to get back to my normal genre of anime, AKTION. And crap I have three Nijuu posts to do ORZ.
i’m at episode 4 now. need to catch up soon.
Three eps in one day is a pretty long marathon XD
Godliness, I loved that witch at the end. pity.
There won’t be a second season. Its like asking whether Iriya no Sora will have a second season…
@C.I.
Yes, I definitely want to see the gang coming back together as a squad.
@53RG10
I think my comment box is faulty, even my CommentLuv plug-in is not working now. Hmm…I’ll need to look into it when I’m free. Thanks for letting me know.
@Omisyth
Ah…I’ve dropped Nijuu mensou no musume due to the lack of time and the repetitive plot where Twenty Faces doesn’t seem to die.
@gordon
You can do it! It’ll be over sooner than you think because its highly entertaining.
@blissmo
I miss you buddy, welcome back!
@Maserko
I think that witch can be found in the manga. I saw some characters that resembled her, maybe you should it out.
The witch at the end, Suwa Amaki, was in the first canceled manga. She’s never gotten her story told, though she and her sisters get mentioned in passing a fair number of times throughout the full SW series.
First manga – Suwa Amaki is the main character. Details her joining up along with her younger sister Suwa Goshiki, and also shows her at a later point when she’s an ace. Also mentions their elder sister, Suwa Masuzu.
Second manga – Suwa Goshiki is one of the main supporting characters. Again mentions Suwa Amaki, and Mio knows Masuzu and Amaki.
Doujinshi novelette – Suwa Masuzu gets interviewed by the reporter main character.
As for nests, there were two major waves of Neuroi invasions, one starting from near the Black Sea and heading northwest, putting up nests in Ostmark, Karlsland and Gallia, then turning to face Romagna through the Alps. Some of the Black Sea Neuroi also headed south into Egypt, setting up a nest somewhere around Alexandria.
Another wave of Neuroi appeared in Siberia, tying up most of the Orussian and Fuso troops around there.
I was kinda surprised actually; It turned out much better than I had anticipated. I mean yeah, I’d watch it just for the pantsu alone, but the story was actually decent enough to carry the show till the end.
I recommend selkirk’s site to all fans who want to learn more about Strike Witches manga, anime and the novel.

Well, I just finished watching this anime and I must say that it is one awesome tv-series :>
I like it and I hope there will be a second season. It would be some kind of soon to talk about a second season already, because the last episode aired around september I think. But some kind of source or something would be awesome. I would be satisfied just to know that there WILL be a second season, no matter the release date :>
Hi, thanks for commenting.
I enjoyed Strike Witches as well; watching, blogging, and sharing my views with the others. Till date, no news so far from GONZO yet but let’s stay optimistic.
Oh Lord, that would be some awesome news…
Do you know other animes with same or equal content (Nazis, WWII, cute girls, ecchi, alternate history etc.)?
Oh and btw: you’re welcome ;)
My friend who’s a huge fan of Strike Witches loves Sky Girls too so perhaps you might want to give it a try. He mentioned some similarities between the 2 series. (:
It’s difficult to come up with the names of titles that bear close semblance to Strike Witches (Sky Girls might be the closest) but I can offer some suggestions if I break up some of your preferences.
- For Nazis, WWII+Gore+Guns, catch “Hellsing” or “Hellsing Ultimate”, where Hellsing Ultimate is the OVAs.
- For ecchi+History, catch “Ikkitousen” or “Koihime Musou”.
- For cute girls, they’re everywhere. You’ll just need to search harder. XD
Well, particulalry I was looking for Cute girls + nazi (+ alternate history, not really needed^^)
I’ve already seen Hellsing OVA/wating until next rls in English
I’ll watch Sky Girls some time and maybe i’m going to write an e-mail to Gonzo, maybe they will tell me something :)
Oh shit… well, I punched myself through the Gonzo-site and I managed to send them an email, just a few minutes ago.
Now I need somebody who speaks Japanese, because they sent me some sort of confirmation email…. in Japanese:

Basically the 1st line thanked you for your queries while the 2nd line mentioned that the person responsible will get back to you, hence, please wait patiently. They then attached the rest of what you have sent to them to confirm what they have received.

The above few lines are like those that you get from the usual emails that runs along “If you’re receiving this email by mistake, contact the webmaster below, blah blah blah.” (You get the idea)
Oh ok. well I’ll keep you in touch with this. Although I think they’re going to say “we won’t publish any info/ no comment”I’m really looking forward to their reply.
And for me beeing German, they’ll answer very quick I’m sure :D I lov it how Japanese guys love Germans :D
Sure, keep in touch! Also, thanks for taking the trouble to check with Gonzo.
You’re welcome, although it doesn’t seem, that they’re going to reply… I haven’t recieved anything until now and I don’t believe that I will ever do.
In the meanwhile I watched Sky Girls. As expected, it is nearly as awesome as Strike Witches :) It’s a very good anime, very cool. Thanks for the hint ;)
