Candy☆Boy – Too Sweeeeet ~♥

Candy☆Boy is a humorous shoujo-ai or yuri series that might be able to rival Faster Than a Kiss in the romance arena. It’s a clean (no strip & no kiss) series where holding hands, hugging, or sleeping together (no puns intended) would be the furthest the two leads would go.

Though the school theme is present in Candy☆Boy just like many other yuri series, the plot revolves around the day to day happenings of 2 girls, making it a slice of life plot. They’re the typical student who would hang out with their friends in the Karaoke box, attend club activities and would try to make it to school on time. The world of Candy☆Boy closely parallels the real world unlike the make believe setting in Strawberry Panic.

To start off, there are only a few note-worthy characters. The leads, Sakurai Yukino and Sakurai Kanade, are twins1 and they both live together in their high school dormitory. Yukino is a friendly, mischievous and silly character. She often does silly things, like spending money on pillows and her actions always amazes Kanade. Kanade, on the other hand, is a more dependable character but she keeps her feelings more to herself. The only supporting character is Kamiyama Sakuya and she’s a big fan of one of the girls.

The episodes are simple, short2 is 10 minutes while the other episodes are each approximately 15 minutes)) and always end off sweetly. You’ll be wondering why I’m following a series where characters eat chocolates, sleep in class or chat with friends while waiting for the train. Actually, I never thought that day to day life could be that interestingly portrayed in Candy☆Boy, so refreshing that it spurs me to follow on. There are many humorous moments found in Candy☆Boy, so funny that you won’t get bored with what the characters are doing.

There are also no restrictions as to what the girls might be doing for each episode. They might be trying to resolve their misunderstandings in an episode while doing shopping in the other. Overall, it’s an accumulation of all the small and tiny little things that they go through, along with the appropriate mix of romance and humor, that make Candy☆Boy a romantic yet humorous yuri series at the end of the day.

Not forgetting, the song Candy☆Boy by Meilin is so catchy and has mushy lyrics that it’ll bring the sweetness of this series up one level. Candy☆Boy, anyone? :biggrin:

    Misleading titles are misleading. Also, I think I have no time to pick up any more new series. I’m swamped.

    Well i think CandyGirl ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CandyGirl ) would also be a little bit unsuitable. :whistle:

    Oh God, I love this show. It’s just so damn cute every time, and I never normally think that about anything (except Francesca Lucchini). Too bad only two of the episodes have been subbed… I als love the song. Who would think that a simple means to promote an ONA  would lead to the creation of an OVA series? Just shows how aweome it is.Also loving the new site design and smilies :cheerful: :biggrin: :cool:

    @The Sojourner
    and
    @C.I.
    I have no idea why the title is so too. I thought that this show would be on sweet guys so I went to catch it but it turned out otherwise, totally opposite from what I’ve expected.

    @FFVIIKnight
    Ahhhhhh….I should’ve posted more screenies on them! My favorite screen shot so far is the last picture above (the one where Yuki hugs Kana from the back). Its romantic and so fitting for the whole love love mood. :wub:

    @Blowfish
    Omg, nice one Blowfish! I never thought of doing a wiki search on Candy Girl and yes, Candy Girl isn’t appropriate for a title either.

    @Omisyth
    Lets stay tune for more Yuki and Kana action in the upcoming episodes. It’ll be a long but worthwhile wait.Thanks! I decided to do a blog make-over and I changed the blog theme and added new plug-ins. The emoticons are soooo cute that I find them hard to ignore, have to activate them. :lol:

    Ah okay blissmo, I figured that you might not like it too. :tongue:

    @ The Sojourner “Candy Boy” is the title of Meilin’s song that she was promoting. This anime was also a basis for promoting her song. Think of it as a 7 minute long music video.–EG
